i think the reason happy endings leave me feeling empty and sad endings leave me less than a husk is because i can only ship these two in a tragic star crossed way. I really like the idea of fakir slowly breaking under the stress of his own ~*internal angst*~ regarding ahiru and his desire to see her human again. being in dokis with a duck is hard! i especially like the idea of him succumbing to the same follies as drosselmeyer because without the creep-ass old dude book club to keep tabs on his fanfictions, and his only tether to morality being a duck, who is to stop him skewing things in his head?? who will stop him from writing a story that propagates an endless tragic cycle of death and rebirth where maybe he can get his smoochies on with his duck girlfriend except as the same species at some point?? instead of being stuck in one stagnant fairytale they could be stuck in an endless loop of stagnant fairytales 

basically what i am saying here is why the fuck aren’t there like one thousand fics about fakir having shitty ethics and doing awful things out of love why
